Happy P day switch day... again
August 13, 2019
Hello friends and family
Breaking news, my p day switched again. I know you all heard from me on Saturday so I'll keep this short. I'll try and answer some of the general questions most people had so hopefully I'll get to all of them.
ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS
No, the orange juice did not make me sick or give me a tummy ache. I actually thought it was quite delicious.
No, the district changes aren't that hard. The scheduling office does its best to ensure a smooth transition because there isn't really any choice for me. Plus there's such a limited amount of sisters in the Provo MTC this time of year.
My new companions are Sister Jolley and Sister Slighta as of this morning. I actually got to know them last week during the new missionary orientation. They're awesome.
Yes, I did watch the Character of Christ. It's actually a requirement for fresh missionaries and it. was. powerful. It was literally a spiritual slap in the face. Very much changed my perspective as a missionary.
Yes my mailing address changed. (Unit 12) :)
SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE
Since Saturday, classes have been great and lots of good fun. In one class the teacher (I forgot her name since she had a substitute pretty much the entire time I've been there) felt a prompting to have us watch The First Great Commandment by Elder Holland. I highly recommend watching it! It gives a powerful perspective on how we are actually showing our love for the Savior. Are we willing to give up our own desires to feed His sheep? I agree with Elder Holland when he says, “I have no doubt that when we die and stand with Christ he will ask us the same question he asked Peter three times, ‘Did you love me?’” Elder Holland can explain it better than I ever can.
During class yesterday, our teacher had surprise TRCs for us to teach. My companions and I got an opportunity to teach (instead of role play with each other although that's fun too) Our goal was to show her the Book of Mormon and invite her to read a couple verses on her own. Long story short, the Book of Mormon is powerful! It's the best teacher of the MTC. It can answer any question or concern. The only lessons we've taught where I've felt the spirit was when we whipped out the Book of Mormon and had the TRC read from it. When in doubt READ the Book of Mormon.
FUN RANDOM FACTS
According to everybody, every district is the best district.
My district has plans to meet up in 3 years to go to Disneyland Haha! (Take that family)
I grew a new love for the MTC enchiladas and fries!!
It was actually hard saying goodbye to this district despite knowing them for a week and a half. They were all so welcoming and funny. I actually teared up.
My new and old districts haven't been able to attend the temple because it was closed. However, on Sunday we got to walk the temple grounds. It. Was. HOT. But beautiful. Part of what made my day was that my old district wanted to take a picture with me (that's what that photo is below) It was sad to leave them as well, despite knowing them for 4 days. But not as sad because I still see them in the MTC halls hahaha!!
There's a crazy week ahead. Next week I leave for Minnesota. WHAT??? I feel like I've been here a year but somehow a day at the same time. It's weird.
DAD JOKE OF THE WEEK
What do you call Batman when he skips church? Christian Bale.
Anyway, God loves you. Trust him, he has great things in mind for you.
Love,
Sister Henderson
